Browntop Millet
Also known as: Bajra, Bulrush millet, Spiked millet.
Botanical name: Pennisetum glaucum.
Pearl millet (bajra) is a small, round, naturally gluten-free cereal grain, usually grey to light brown. It is grown mainly in Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan is India's largest millet-producing state.
Trutone Agro receives pearl millet at its Jaipur plant, cleans, grades and packs it as whole grain to the buyer's specification, and ships each lot with a certificate of analysis.
Applications
Flour for flatbreads, bakery and multigrain blends
Snacks, extruded products and porridge mixes
Gluten-free product ranges [subject to your segregation statement]
Animal, poultry and bird feed [only if you supply feed grade]
Origin and sourcing: Sourced from [Rajasthan and other states you actually buy from]. Trutone's plant is in Jaipur, in the largest producing state.
Handling note: Pearl millet has a higher fat content than other millets, so milled flour turns rancid faster than whole grain. Buyers who mill should plan for shorter storage of flour. Whole grain stores longer when moisture is kept at or below the specification.
